The unpublished manuscript of Merton Yarwood
Williams has long been considered an important starting point for researching
the Canadian Bowerman Lines. Based largely upon the original works of
Vincent and Levi Vincent Bowerman, it has been long sought after.
This work, in its entirety, has been
transcribed and is available on this website. While extremely valuable,
Williams’ manuscript contains errors which more recent research is able to
correct. To this end, we are in the process of reviewing the original
document and adding editorial comments and corrections where appropriate.
[NOTE: Jeff located a corrections and additions page written by M.Y. Williams
for this manuscript while at the UBC. We are incorporating those changes into
this "corrected version." The actual page of corrections will be included at the
end of the transcription.]
We have opened a discussion forum for this
purpose, and as the material is corrected, we will add the corrections to the
document by way of endnotes, or some other means, and make these available to
everyone.
Note: The manuscript has been transcribed,
as accurately as possible. All text appears, including spelling errors, as
they did in the original. The formatting of the document has been modified to
accommodate web viewing.
Sections appearing in "BLUE" are notes that
were handwritten onto the manuscript, by an unknown hand.
