November the 3 1843
Dear fauther & Mother I wonse more hav
the hapy priaulidge of writing to you [thrugh]
the blessing of god own helth are both very good Ruth
has made a short beginning and left it for me I [wi]?
these lines will find you enjoying the same greate
blessing of health [&] blessing that we know not how
to prize until we are [de]pried of it I will give you
a short account of how of how we got allong after we left
you we got to the [cows?] jest in time we had a very
pleasant time we had a chance to see considerable as
we stoped at all the towns we passed through but we
had only to look at them and then go along we were
[...] 6 hours coming and did not make the mud fly
half so bad as when comeing to portland the old
fire horse did not want any whipping neither and
all arrivde in safty [...] stood in a maze
when he got here he did not know where to go or what
to do so after I got my things wright
I went round amongst the folks they all appeard
glad to see us once more I got work the next
monday after it is not a long job it is
inside work I think there is no doubt but
there will bee work enough through the winter
and now [I] want you to write us as soon as
you receive this or get some one else to write
and let us know how you got home and how
you get along all about things down there
you must both of you sit down and write all day and
so change works you may direct it to Boston

the sun shine of happiness and peace and prosperity
attend them through life know I must
finish for Abiel is tierd of writing I have no
knewes to write mother I want to see you and
farther very much I hope you both will
be carful of your selfs and not take cold
I hope wee shall all write each other onse more
I have wored a gratedeal about farther becase
he was so unewell in portland you must not
fale of writing soon as you git this you can
git Lucy to rite giv my lov to Lucy I [want]
to know how she liked hir clock giv my lov
to Mis Harris to [Himmun?] and all of my friends
let the no. nest goo and see a what will be thimes
and end tis late and I cannot thnk what to write
till I hear from you I shall rite to Lucy

you I would talk one half knite I have ben
to meting to Day I wint thanksgiving Day
and had finest rate time I had most turkey
fur super and other good things I wish you
