The fact that this list of
names is one to which constant reference is had in all genealogical inquiries of
the old families of the Old Colony, is a sufficient reason for its
insertion in this work. As this copy is made from the one taken in 1813,
by the Commissioners appointed by the General Court, the present copyist cannot
be responsible for its perfect accuracy. It has, however, been carefully
collated with the original, by William S. Russell. Esq., of Plymouth, the
obliging Register of Deeds, who has the custody of the Old Colony Records.
The names distinguished by an asterisk are crossed out in the original.
