Solomon Hoxey (M)
b. 19 October 1679, d. before 9 November 1762, #3261
Pedigree

Solomon Hoxey was born on 19 October 1679.1
Solomon was employed or working as a a "shoemaker by trade."2 He was the son of Lodowick Hoxsie and Mary Presbury.1 He lived in Scorton Neck, Sandwich, Barnstable Co., MA, New England.3
Solomon, age 23, married first, Elizabeth Wing, daughter of Samuel Wing and Mary (?), on 24 April 1703 at Sandwich, Barnstable Co., MA, New England.4,5
Solomon, age 44, married second, Sarah Robinson on 8 February 1723/24 at Falmouth, Barnstable Co., MA, New England.  [Note: This marriage needs to be examined further. Falmouth VR records this marriage almost 12 years earlier, on 7 Mar 1711/12. This is possibly Sarah Robinson, dau. of Isaac and Hannah ( ) Robinson, b. 4 Jan 1690.].6,7
Solomon, age 58, married third, Dorothy Clifton, age 38, daughter of Savory Clefton and Dority Burge, on 6 December 1737  [See Research Note below].8

Research Note:  Anne Bowerman, in her "Bowerman Family History", page 271, states:
"Savory signed as a witness for the second marriage of his widowed daughter, Dorothy (Clifton) Wing, to Solomon Hoxey on the 6d 10m 'December' 1737 (SMM)."
Upon examination of the Sandwich Vital Records, Vol. 2, Page 1256, the following is found:
"Soloman Hoxey of Sandwich And dorathy Wing daughter of Samuell Wing of the Town and County Afore said ... [were married] the Sixth day of the tenth Month Called December In the year 1737"
Further examination of Falmouth, Sandwich and Rochester VR's does not show a birth record for a dau. named Dorothy to Samuel Wing. Should the Sandwich VR read "widow of Samuel Wing"?

Solomon, age 74, married fourth, Jemima Sherman on 21 January 1754  [Note: No record of this marriage appears in either Sandwich or Falmouth VR's].9
Solomon Hoxey died before 9 November 1762 in Sandwich, Barnstable Co., MA, New England.
His will was probated on 9 November 1762 at Sandwich, Barnstable Co., MA, New England.10
