     Samuel married Elizabeth Ellis, daughter of Lt. John Ellis and Elizabeth Freeman, circa 1664 in Sandwich, Barnstable Co., MA, New England.
     As of after 1673, Samuel was also known as Samuel ,Sr.. He was a jury member on 3 June 1674 at of the Grand Enquest, Plymouth, Plymouth Co., MA, New England.1
     Samuel Briggs was appointed on 5 June 1678 at Sandwich, Barnstable Co., MA, New England, as surveyor of highways.2
     Samuel Briggs (of Sandwich) transferred, by deed, to John Wing , Sr., , of Sandwich, "my 1/2 share of lands at Sepican" on 2 August 1681 at Rochester, Plymouth Co., MA, New England.3

     Research Note:  In the Rochester Proprietor's Records from a copy made by Noah Hammond in 1882, Samuel Briggs' name appears in the list of residents of Sandwich who were at the first meeting of the purchasers of Sippican.


     Samuel Briggs received lot 29 by the sea and lot 29 in the woods on 31 March 1685 at Rochester, Plymouth Co., MA, New England.4
     Samuel Briggs received the first lot at Cromset and lot 28 at Sippican Neck on 10 February 1694 at Rochester, Plymouth Co., MA, New England.5
     Samuel Briggs received 40 acres of Ministry Land in exchange for a cartway through his lands to the town's General Landing Place on the North side of the harbor in 1697 at Rochester, Plymouth Co., MA, New England.6
     Samuel Briggs received lot 22 at Salt Meadow and lot 15 at Fresh Meadow on 13 July 1697 at Rochester, Plymouth Co., MA, New England.6
     Samuel Briggs transferred, by deed, to William Ellis, "of Middleberry," 1/2 lot no. 22 of Fresh Meadow on 21 May 1701 at Rochester, Plymouth Co., MA, New England.7

     Samuel Briggs received lot 25 at Dartmouth Gore on 27 June 1704 at Rochester, Plymouth Co., MA, New England.10
     Samuel Briggs recieved, by deed, from John Benson, ,Jr., "to my honored father, Samuel Briggs, my sea lot no. 7 of 40 A." On 21 March 1704/5 at Rochester, Plymouth Co., MA, New England.11
     Samuel Briggs received lot 32 in Cedar and Spruce Swamps on 11 February 1706/7 at Rochester, Plymouth Co., MA, New England.12
     Samuel Briggs, Sr., of Rochester, grantor, to "dutiful son John Briggs of Rochester," grantee, "1/2 upland meadows, numerous house lots and other pieces in Rochester." [This deed establishes John Briggs of Rochester, whose birth is not recorded in Sandwich VR's, as the son of Samuel Briggs, Sr., of Rochester.] Witnesses to the deed were Joseph and Stephen Wing, this date. [recorded 2 Jan 1715/16] On 11 February 1714 at Rochester, Plymouth Co., MA, New England.13
     Samuel Briggs died after 1715 in Rochester, Plymouth Co., MA, New England. No will was recorded by either Samuel Briggs or his wife and the dates of their deaths are unknown.
