Smith, in CCL 1:241, gives us: "Joseph... married 1st Mercy Morton, Sandwich, married 2nd Mrs. Rebecca Clark Ellis March 4, 1730-31." The vital records of Sandwich, MA., show the name of his 2nd wife as "Rebekah Morten"... I have included the CCL citation strictly as a reference.
The will of Joshua Blackwell, dated15 July 1737, proved 9 Jan 1737/8 [NEHGR 117:187; Barnstable County Probate 5:382-384] clearly named Joseph Swift as his son-in-law, and left a bequest of "5s. to each of his children by my daughter Mercy..."
