King Edward II (?) of England died on 21 September 1327 in Berkeley Castle, Co. Gloucestershire, England,, at the age of 43 years, 4 months and 27 days.
Research Note: Edward was the first heir apparent in English history to be proclaimed, Prince of Wales. He was a Plantagenet King of England (the House of Anjou) whose incompetence and distaste for government finally led to his deposition and murder. In January 1327, Parliament forced Edward to resign and proclaimed the Prince of Wales king as Edward III. On September 21 of that year Edward II was murdered by his captors at Berkeley Castle, Gloucestershire.
