     Lydia Gifford was born circa 1738/39 Lydia is "believed" to be the daughter of Malatiah and Hannah (Claghorn) Gifford [NEHGR 129:233]. She and her sister, Elizabeth, were named in her father's will only by their given names and recieved final bequests of 5 pds. each [BCP 21:203].1 She was the daughter of Malatiah Gifford and Hannah Claghorn.

     Research Note:  It should be noted that Lydia Gifford's step-mother, Sarah (Bowerman) Gifford, was the older sister of her husband, Silas - both children of Thomas and Jane (Clifton) Bowerman.2
As of 25 December 1759, her married name was Lydia Bowerman.
     Lydia married Silas Bormaman, age 29, son of Thomas Bowerman and Jane Clefton, on 25 December 1759 at Falmouth, Barnstable Co., MA, New England.3,4 She and Silas Bowerman removed circa 1767 to New Bedford, Ma, where he lived for some thirteen years, until about 1780.5
     Lydia Gifford died before 1797 in Northeast, Ontario Co., NY, USA,, Exact death date not known, however, she is not mentioned in the will of her husband, dated 29 May 1797. Death location extracted from marriage rec. of son "Macy."6

     Jabez Gifford died on 14 March 1803 Died intestate.
