Captain Luther A. Bowman was born on 30 January 1803. He was the son of Curtis Bowman and Rachel Gifford.
Luther A., age 23, married first, Hannah Hamilton, age 24 on 17 October 1826.
Luther A. married second, Susannah Braley after 17 October 1826.
Captain Luther A. Bowman died on 20 December 1881 at the age of 78 years, 10 months and 20 days. He was buried after 20 December 1881.

Research Note: It should be noted that only ONE marriage is recorded for Luther, to Hannah Hamilton. Susanna, the "second" wife died 3 months before Hannah, thus making the marriage improbable or at least requiring much more investigation before accepting this as fact. This confusion stems from the fact that tombstones exist which name both women as "wife of Luther Bowman" and are next to him in the cemetery (see attached ts photos). Were Luther and Hannah divorced? What caused the death of both women in 1851?
