STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

PURPOSE:

To provide and publish a unified repository of genealogical research data for researchers interested in the descendants and ancestors of Thomas Bowerman (Burman, etc.) and Hannah Annable, in Plymouth Colony by 1633. This objective can only be met with the support and donations of the Bowerman researchers working together as a collective body.

REASON:

Because there is some erroneous genealogical data relating to Thomas and Hannah Bowerman’s family circulating on the internet, we believe that a website such as this will foster accurate genealogical research and provide a centralized platform for the electronic publication of documented research.

REQUIREMENTS:

1.  Individuals willing to share genealogical records and data relating to the Bowerman family.

2.  A core group of individuals willing to assist others in performing “lookups” in available resources (personal collections, archives, libraries, etc.).

3. Submission of genealogical records, with relevant source citations, which will be reviewed by a committee to assure accuracy of content before publication.

4.  Develop and maintain a research database of Bowerman family information based on the best available sources.  ONLY data supported with proper source citations will be entered into the database and published on this website (excluding sensitive data for those still living).

5.  To publish a Bowerman Family Internet Newsletter (a volunteer "editor" is needed) for distribution to registered members on a monthly basis. This newsletter will contain information about new additions to this web site, submissions from users, queries, and general research discussion.
