How do I go about submitting data to the website?

Simply send your submission, properly sourced, to the following address:
submissions@hawkshome.net  (Read about Sources and Citations here)

What happens to my submission?

After receiving your submission, several things happen.  The material is first reviewed by a committee of three people for accuracy and source verification.  It is then prepared, via transcription or other process, for inclusion to the website. Before any transcription of submitted materials takes place, it is again reviewed for accuracy before final publication. This is simply a "control" being employed to insure the greatest accuracy we can deliver.

Also, your submission is protected. We WILL NOT "sell" or utilize your material in any collection made for profit, without your express, written authority. We regard this material and data as your PRIVATE material, being used with permission on this website only.

Who gets the credit?

YOU do!  If you submit material that is published, be it pictures, family lineages, records, sources, etc., YOU are attributed for the information.  The only thing we retain copyright on is the website design and the layout of the content within.  We do not restrict the use of this material for your personal genealogy or research.

What about "sensitive data" and "confidentiality?"

These are issues that any responsible genealogist must be concerned with.  We fully respect the privacy of any information or data that you send to us.  Although the information may be gathered in our "archive" database, no information about living persons, or sensitive issues, will be published on this site.  To openly publish such information as Social Security numbers, adoption data, etc., is irresponsible.

What is this "Database?"

The database is simply a collection of all submitted family lineages that are "verified" to the best of our ability.  Each submission is recorded with the name of the submitter in the database.  Upon receiving a request for data later than 1890 from a submitter's records, we will put the individual requesting the data in touch with the original submitter.  We WILL NOT release any "privileged" family data after that date.

As this database is developed, we will publish the collective, non-sensitive, data on this website  with a searchable index to names, pedigrees, etc.
